Photometric Lights Common Properties, Operators, and Methods

The following properties apply only to the Photometric Light types: FreePoint, FreeLinear, FreeArea, TargetPoint, TargetLinear and TargetArea

<Photometric_Light>.on Boolean default: true -- boolean

Toggle the light on/off

<Photometric_Light>.includeList UndefinedClass default: undefined --

Get/Set an array of objects to be included in the illumination by the light. When setting the value, the Include/Exlude option will be set to Include.

<Photometric_Light>.excludeList Array default: #()

Get/Set the exclusion list as an array on objects. When setting the value, the Include/Exlude option will be set to Exclude.

<Photometric_Light>.light_color Color default: (color 255 255 255)

The color of the light. Same as the .RGB or .Color property.

<Photometric_Light>.rgb Color default: (color 255 255 255) -- RGB color; color

The RGB color of the light

<Photometric_Light>.affectDiffuse Boolean default: true -- boolean

When true, the light affects the diffuse color.

<Photometric_Light>.affectSpecular Boolean default: true -- boolean

When true, the light affects the specular color.

<Photometric_Light>.ambientOnly Boolean default: false -- boolean

When set to true, the light affects the Ambient color only.

<Photometric_Light>.softenDiffuseEdge Float default: 0.0 -- float

Get/Set the Soften Diff. Edge value.

<Photometric_Light>.diffuse_soften Float default: 0.0

Get/Set the Soften Diff. Edge value.

<Photometric_Light>.light_contrast Float default: 0.0

Get/Set the Light Contrast value. Corresponds to the Contrast value in the Advanced Effects rollout in the UI. Same as .contrast

<Photometric_Light>.contrast Float default: 0.0 -- float

Get/Set the Light Contrast value. Corresponds to the Contrast value in the Advanced Effects rollout in the UI. Same as .light_contrast

<Photometric_Light>.filter_color Color default: (color 255 255 255)

Get/Set the filter color. Same as .rgbFilter.

<Photometric_Light>.rgbFilter Color default: (color 255 255 255) -- RGB color

The RGB Filter color

<Photometric_Light>.flux Float default: 0.0 -- float

Set the intensity in lm.

<Photometric_Light>.intensity Float default: 1500.0

Get/Set the Intensity value in cd.

<Photometric_Light>.intensityAt Float default: 1.0 -- float

Get/Set the Distance at which the intensity in fc is measured.

<Photometric_Light>.intensityType Integer default: 1 -- integer

Get/Set the Intensity type, where

0 - lm

1 - cd

2 - fc

<Photometric_Light>.kelvin Float default: 3600.0 -- float

The light color temperature in Kelvin.

<Photometric_Light>.useKelvin Boolean default: false -- boolean

When true, the color temperature in Kelvin will be used. When false, the RGB Color will be used instead.

<Photometric_Light>.multiplier Float default: 100.0

The intensity multiplier value.

<Photometric_Light>.useMultiplier Boolean default: false -- boolean

The intensity multiplier value.

<Photometric_Light>.originalFlux Float default: 0.0 -- float

<Photometric_Light>.originalIntensity Float default: 0.0 -- float

 

<Photometric_Light>.castShadows Boolean default: true -- boolean

Toggle shadow casting on/off.

<Photometric_Light>.useGlobalShadowSettings Boolean default: false -- boolean

When true, use the Global Shadow settings.

<Photometric_Light>.shadow_color Color default: (color 0 0 0)

Get/Set the shadow color value.

<Photometric_Light>.shadowColor Color default: (color 0 0 0) -- RGB color

Get/Set the shadow color.

<Photometric_Light>.shadow_density Float default: 1.0

Get/Set the shadow density value.

<Photometric_Light>.twoSidedShadows Boolean default: true -- boolean

Toggle two-sided shadows on/off

<Photometric_Light>.lightAffectsShadow Boolean default: false -- boolean

When true, the light affects the shadow color.

<Photometric_Light>.shadowColorMapEnable Boolean default: false -- boolean

Toggle the Color map switch.

<Photometric_Light>.shadowGenerator shadowMap default: shadowMap:shadowMap -- SubAnim

The shadow generator class used by the light. Can be a shadowMap , raytraceShadow , Adv__Ray_traced or Area_Shadows class instance.

<Photometric_Light>.shadowGeneratorByName String default: "Shadow Map" -- string

Enter "Shadow Map" for shadow maps; "Ray Traced Shadows" for ray traced shadows etc.

<Photometric_Light>.shadowMultiplier Float default: 1.0 -- float

Get/Set the shadow multiplier value.

<Photometric_Light>.shadowProjectorMap UndefinedClass default: undefined

Get/Set the shadow Projector Map

<Photometric_Light>.raytracedShadows Boolean default: false -- boolean

Note:

This property should not be used in 3ds Max 5. Please use the .shadowGenerator property to assign a shadow generator.

<Photometric_Light>.atmosShadows Boolean default: false -- boolean

Toggle atmosphere shadows on/off.

<Photometric_Light>.atmosOpacity Float default: 100.0 -- float

Get/Set the atmosphere shadows opacity value. Same as .atmospheric_opacity

<Photometric_Light>.atmospheric_opacity Float default: 100.0

Get/Set the atmosphere shadows opacity value. Same as .atmosOpacity.

<Photometric_Light>.atmosColorAmt Float default: 100.0 -- float

Get/Set the atmosphere shadows color value. Same as .atmospheric_color_amount

<Photometric_Light>.atmospheric_color_amount Float default: 100.0

Get/Set the atmosphere shadows color value.

<Photometric_Light>.projector Boolean default: false -- boolean

Toggle the projector map on/off.

<Photometric_Light>.projectorMap UndefinedClass default: undefined --

Get/Set the projector map.

<Photometric_Light>.showCone Boolean default: false -- boolean

Toggle cone display of targeted lights on/off

<Photometric_Light>.beam_angle Float default: 30.0

Get/Set the Hotspot/Beam angle value.

<Photometric_Light>.hotSpot Float default: 30.0 -- float

Get/Set the hotspot value when using Spotlight distribution.

<Photometric_Light>.falloff Float default: 60.0 -- float

The Falloff value. Same as .field_angle

<Photometric_Light>.field_angle Float default: 60.0

The Field angle value. Same as falloff.

<Photometric_Light>.target_distance Float default: 240.0

Get the target distance of targeted lights and lights with spotlight distribution.

<Photometric_Light>.targetDistance Float default: 240.0 -- float

Get/Set the target distance of targeted lights and lights with spotlight distribution.

Get/Set the length of Linear and Area Lights
