What was new in version 2.0?                               

Hi, welcome to PolyBoost 2.0. Lets take a look at what has been added to PolyBoost in version 2.0. There has been big progress since the last version and there are some major additions worth mentioning. Some of the main features of PolyBoost 2.0 are:

·         PolyDraw enhanced. Huge improvements in speed, accuracy and workflow. A large amount of new useful tools to work with. Topology brush, Surface painter, Border tool, Optimizer, PolyShapes, PolyStrips, draw Splines  and more. Many workflow enhancements like Quick help buttons in the interface for each tool and Undo support.

·         Viewport Canvas - Paint textures directly in the max viewport! Most of the Photoshop blendingmodes supported. User-defined custom brushes. Clonetool, clone away your seams directly on the model in the viewport. No more seams! Option to Export viewport to Photoshop and paint using all the tools there, then update the texture on the model.

·         UVW Tweak - Adjust the UVW mapping on the model directly in the viewport without the need for any modifiers. Pull the mapping around in an intuitive way to eliminate visible stretching in areas.

·         Edit Poly modifier support for almost all of the selection tools and a few of the modeling tools. To see which tools has this support go here .

·         Setflow - Set the flow of edges and edgeloops to follow the flow of the mesh. Existing flowtools rewritten to ensure usability and precision. Spinner lag removed. Undo support for the spinners.

·         GeoPoly - Untangles a polygon and organizes the vertices to form a perfect geometric shape.

·         Create Polygons with any number of vertices. Rewritten.

·         Selection tools for the Skin modifier and ClothFX modifier . Grow/Shrink, Loop/Ring and select element. Much needed.

·         CenterLoop - Centers loops/edges to the edgering they are on.

·         Similar – You can now also choose to compare the normals of the elements to determine the selection.

·         The PolyBoost and PolyDraw interfaces are now dockable in the viewport. The main interface has also been slightly reorganized for better access to certain modeling tools like InsertVerts and CreatePolygon.

·         Rotate tool now works with subobject selections and in world, local and screen coordinate space.

·         All spinners now have Undo support.

·         There has also been a lot of work done to the existing tools in PolyBoost. Many tools have been rewritten to enhance performance. Fill selection, Growloop, Stepmode, LoopMode, RingMode, PerspectiveGrow, NormalSelect, PerspectiveSelect, PerspectiveGrow, DistanceConnect, Create Polygon, Set Size and SelectHalf are examples of tools which has seen improvements in the way they work. Many speed optimizations throughout the PolyBoost code has also been made.

PolyBoost 2.0 Changelist:

PolyDraw:

·        PolyTopo : Draw topology lines and create mesh on grid,surface or selection.

·        PolySurf : Draw surface on grid,surface or selection.

·        PolyShapes : Draw polygon shapes on grid,surface or selection.

·        PolyStrips : Draw strips of polygons on grid,surface or selection.

·        Draw splines on grid,surface or selection.

·        SolveSurf: Automatically try to make clean quad connections between vertices in a polygon shape.

·        Move tool: Move vertices, edges, polygons, edgeloops, edgerings or elements on grid,surface or selection.

·        Optimizer: Collapse edges, edgerings, target weld vertices, remove vertices, edges, edgeloops and connect vertices, all in the same tool for super fast workflow. Ideal when as an example working LODs for game models.

·        Undo enabled for most PolyDraw tools, including move, this support also removes a situation where undo could cause a crash.

·        You can now switch between the different tools in the interface without the need to exit the active one first.

·        Move vertices one at a time without accidently selecting other vertices, the move speed is also now much faster.

·        Greatly enhanced precision/edge-detection and speed in the Paint connections tools.

·        Directly switch between connecting edges or vertices by holding or releasing ctrl during dragging. This also means that you can start painting a loop from an existing vertex.

·        Paint connecting vertices improved so that each click+drag starts a fresh connection.

·        Better precision when drag over-selecting vertices.

·        Optimized performance when drawing on selection.

·        When drawing on selection hidden parts of the model are now ignored.

·        Improved code base for drawing faces and greatly improved speed, especially on larger objects.

·        Quickhelp buttons added to the interface for each drawtool that shows the different key combinations of the tool.

·        The interface now remembers the last settings used when the window is closed and opened again.

Viewport Canvas:

·        FlowConnect/FlowAdjust rewritten to work on most types of topology and with no spinner lag. Now also more accurate.

·        AdjustLoops - spinner lag removed.

·        New combined interface for the FlowConnect tools and the AdjustLoops tools with additional tools:

·        SetFlow - Automatically adjust loops/edges to meshflow by pressing button in addition to the interactive spinner.

·        CenterLoop - Centers loops/edges to the middle of the edgering they are on.

·        Similar - In the similar dialog you can now also choose to select subobject elements with similar normal direction.

·        FillSelection tool rewritten. It is now a lot more reliable.

·        GrowLoop rewritten to work with parallel edgeloops.

·        StepMode rewritten - Initial selection is no longer cleared when starting the tool.

·        Improved PerspectiveGrow.

·        NormalSelect, PerspectiveSelect and SelectHalf no longer requires the objects transform to be reset.

·        Rotate tool now also works for subobject selections and works in world, local and screen coordinate system.

·        There is no longer any need to reset the transform of objects after using the "Set size" tool if the object is an Editable poly.

·        PolyBoost main interface and PolyDraw interface is now dockable in the viewport and resizable both vertically and horizontally.

·        Modeling part of the interface has been slightly reorganized for faster access to certain tools.

·        Undo support added for all interactive spinners in PolyBoost. This includes FlowConnect, SetFlow, AdjustLoops, NormalSelect, DistanceSelect, PerspectiveSelect and the grow/shrink spinner.

·        New selection tools for selecting vertices in the Skin modifier and ClothFX modifier: Grow, Shrink, Loop, Ring, Select element.

·        Similar – You can now also choose to compare the normals of the elements to determine the selection.

·        PolyBoost code completely reorganized in structures for better handling of global values..
